Today's Empowering Belief
I choose to control fear, not let it control me.
Hey Champion,
F.E.A.R
Fear isn't new to you; we all have it and face it at some point in our lives. Perhaps this acronym might be new, expressed previously as False Evidence that Appears Real. So is FEAR a bad thing? No, not at all. Fear is a powerful state of mind if you know how to tame it.
It's the state that helps trigger adrenaline and a biological change in the body, a fight or flight state to avoid pain; it's there to enable us to pay attention and take immediate action. Removing it removes our protection from harm.
To me, when people say defeat fear, it suggests that we never want it. It's not something you can choose to remove; it's part of the human tools we're gifted with. You shouldn't think about removing or defeating it but deflecting it when it's not serving you, like a 'temporary off' switch.
Even the most successful people have fear but are masterful in deflecting and keeping themselves in motion towards their goals. So what's happening here? Well, the law is at work! The universal law of transmutation.
Manifesting your thoughts
The law of transmutation suggests that we are in constant motion; everything is energy, all physical objects, us, animals, you name it.
To form the physical from the non-physical, it must manifest.
Humans are a result of energy transmuted into the shape we know to be a human body; two legs, arms, eyes, nose, heart etc. Where is the blueprint for what makes a human body the shape it is? How does the body know it must manifest into what we perceive as the correct shape? These are mysterious questions but powerful enough to suggest that there is a more incredible knowledge map that energy follows to shift from one form to another.
Think about it, everything you know today never existed; we created it through knowledge; let me give you a simple example. Think about a drinking glass.
Before it was glass, it was sand. When the imagination created the image of an object to drink from, something had to happen to that sand before we could physically see it as glass.
We are powerful beings if we can consciously create an image that doesn't exist from an idea into a concept and bring it to the physical form; what other species can do so? #powerfulthought
With that in mind, for you to succeed, which we all want, we need to learn to think constructively to create the life and the results we want. Here's the kicker, our natural tool, FEAR, stops construction and moves you into protection.
If you can deconstruct something, meaning, stop yourself from manifesting your thoughts, you very well can create it too.
5 Techniques To Help Deflect Fears
1 Breathing Deeply
The Amygdala, a collection of nuclei found in the brain, is commonly known for processing fearful and threatening stimuli. It's responsible for stopping all body functions and redirecting all resources to prevent yours from harm. Stop that from happening by flooding the brain with oxygen, so you're calm and have more awareness and space to think.
2 Acknowledgment & Decision-making
Decide to see it through, no matter what. We often like safety nets, a fall-back, or a back door. It sounds like this: "If that doesn't work, I'll try next time", or "Maybe I don't know enough to be doing this; I read further".
Command it as if you mean it and take control over it. Vocalise it; tell someone else what you will do because a public intention is a promise. You can let yourself down but letting others down is more painful.
Know and acknowledge in your gut why you are here and why this is important to your overall development and journey. Make it an absolute MUST.
3 Focusing By Asking Better Questions
When you feel a sense of fear, ask yourself better questions, shifting the focus. Disempowering questions create disempowering answers, so ask empowering questions that are not about you.
Change this:
What am I thinking? I'm not good enough for this, am I?
[No, your not, you sound stupid, you know your not good enough]
To this:
What am I here to do for others?
[I'm here to serve people in a way that amplifies their lives]
Where else can you focus your attention?
What's this fear costing me?
What could be possible if I smashed through this?
How will doing this add to my journey?
What benefit is this going to have in someone's life?
4 Remove The Assumptions
Our language is a powerful tool that can add to fear if you're not aware. In a state of fear, we tend to get creative 🤣. We often make massive assumptions, big generalisations with no evidence or truth. We tend to create scenarios where A=B.
Here are some examples:
A = She didn't even react.
B = What I said probably wasn't good, then.
A = I haven't shown enough credibility yet
B = They won't consider me.
There is no truth to that statement; how A = B?
When you make an assumption, ask yourself, do I have enough evidence to suggest the truth? More often than not, it's a no. Refrain from making assumptions before you attempt anything. Once you have done it, analyse what worked and what needs improvements.
5 Practise & Familiarise Yourself
One of the best ways to minimise the possibility of fear is to know and practise beforehand. Anticipation is powerful; if you know you will deliver a talk, you can anticipate fear by practising that which you know will come up physically and mentally. You might practise in the mirror, in front of family or friends, in front of the camera, or going live on social for 5 mins etc.
Exposing yourself to what you fear in smaller doses can minimise the effect when it's time.
Until next time Champions, become fearless in your pursuits.
