Progress Equals Success
Hey Champion,
It seems that these days, success has been predefined for us, and most of the time, it's financially inclined.
People associate success with tangible objects. If you have more of what people place value in, material wealth, the more successful you are. It's easier to see and show, right? Wrong!
Here's the truth, success and failure are achieved similarly, progressively. They are both dependent on what actions we take. Over time, the results of those actions determine how successful or not we genuinely are.
Take health, for example; eating a burger today wouldn't mean failure if you are trying to lose weight. What if you ate burgers for 30 days? Failure? Nope. How about one year of eating burgers? You'd most definitely see the results of your actions; it's progressive.
I remember once we bought a Bonsai plant, it was a big plant. We needed two people to carry it to the car and the house. It was a spur-of-the-moment purchase, fell in love with it when we saw it.
Although it looked great, we realised the lack of knowledge and how inefficient we were in our ability to maintain it. Slowly the leaves began to change colour, and consequently, they fell off one by one. What looked like a beautiful plant three months in had dried and weakened.
Unfortunately, the bonsai did not make it. Does this make us ultimate failures? No. It just means we failed to maintain what was needed for that plant to grow. We weren't successful plant growers.
Your success depends on your ability to maintain your efforts towards growth; regardless of a positive outcome. Success doesn't stop and if it did, then every time you achieve a material goal you'd be termed a one-hit wonder, lucky person, gifted, one in a million, any justification under the sun for that matter, all but that core ingredient to be successful.
So next time you see someone flaunting their wealth, let's not jump to the conclusion that they're successful. Their actions over time should determine that. Are they consistently showing progress?
It's happening...
The website is currently being developed, we're trying to bring it to life. Will it be a singing and dancing site? Hell no! As we continue to develop on the back end, slowly but surely, we are making progress, and it feels incredible.
I love the concept of 'Wabi Sabi'. A Japanese view centred around the acceptance of transience and imperfection. Everything around us is a work in progress, its temporary, change is inevitable, so if there is a spelling mistake, a picture not quite sitting in place, or a button not working, it's ok.
More on the website to come; sit tight.
➻ What's your next move?
➻ Where are you going?
➻ What do you need to do to get there?
Whatever you're up to, know that as long as you're intentional about your next step, that's all you need to progress. Develop your ability to keep going, and worry less about how successful you look to others; in time, they'll see it.
